The Do-One Campaign will be a global campaign designed to unify the efforts of millions of people and businesses to address the environmental issues we face. The resources of our world are finite, not infinite. Do-One is designed to engage us in doing simple actions, and when done collectively, will have a tremendous positive impact. These steps, when done individually, are small, but when done globally, are gigantic.
Do-One is lead by Matthew Modine, internationally renowned actor, filmmaker, author and photographer. He has worked with many of the film industry’s most acclaimed directors on projects including Stranger Things, Dark Knight Rises, Birdy, Full Metal Jacket, Married to the Mob, Shortcuts and Showtime’s Weeds.
Deb Spilman and Peter Corbyn are working with Matthew to realize the vision of dramatically increasing the collective actions we humans and businesses can do to minimize our impact on climate change, water, biodiversity and resource depletion. Do-One will work with like-minded people, non-profit organizations and companies around the world. These challenges need a new kind of problem-solving model – leveraging a network of peer-to-peer teams and groups, not a top-down approach.
Do-One launched in April 2019 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, with the goal of expanding to other communities around North America as quickly as possible. Do-One will help locally owned businesses grow their social media presence by asking customers to customers to promote them online. In return for being a DO-ONE partner, businesses commit to doing one thing a month to reduce their environmental impact, ultimately helping you reduce your impact.
